I Will Watch Taken 2

So remember the movie "TAKEN" staring the very deep and mysteriously voiced Liam Neeson ( also known for his movies such as Schindler's List, Batman Begins, Star Wars: episode 1 the Phantom Menace ) Everybody who saw the movie asked for it but didn't really expect that it will have a sequel! yes definitely there is a TAKEN 2 movie which will be shown on October 4 2012.

If you don't know the premise of this movie it's about a retired CIA agent that had a daughter who was kidnapped by an albanian group whose modus operandi is to take girls, make them sex slaves, and then sell them. Well badluck for the kidnappers because they kidnapped Mr. Retired CIA's daughter, he tracks them down and ultimately wipes them out after uttering this quote " I DON'T KNOW WHO YOU ARE BUT IF YOU DON'T LET MY DAUGHTER GO I WILL FIND YOU, I WILL KILL YOU".

so there you go the simple summary of part 1, now part 2 is almost like that except the Albanian kidnapping group's family are back for vengeance and they are now targeting him and his family. Now here's the trailer, I really don't want to spoil any of the good stuff so please watch and do so. My inner geek is tingling and I will definitely watch this! then make a review afterwards.

What To Do When You Don't Know What Gift To Give Her

Yes I am doing away with the iphone 5 post for awhile coz I know it's starting to become annoying. . .

It's almost the holiday season and every guy who is in a relationship is already starting to save up for the best gift that they could possibly give/buy for the woman they oh so love/like so much. Wew! (inhales deeply)

And! it's also the time where in every woman is not aware of the dilemma that men painstakingly go through just because women think that we are PSYCHICS that can read their minds and that we should already know what they want as a gift, therefore answering the most fearful set of answers (for men) that a woman could possibly answer of all time when asked the age old question of " What gift do you want? " this set of answers including...

Woman 1: " it's up to you baby "

Woman 2: " aww how sweet! I know you know what I want "

Woman 3: " anything will do "

Woman 4: " I would be happy with whatever you could come up with "

Woman 5: Just smiles...

Woman 6: " Surprise me! "

Yes Indeed!

Ok! I know that you women would be thinking that we should already know this because it's what makes it sweet, but come on! Not every man is like the guys you see on TV, we have limits! So this is what a guy wants to hear when they ask that question . . . A car! A phone! some chocolates, a new dress, perfume, a new laptop maybe, a dinner date, flowers and stuffed toys, a vacation, a watch, or maybe even some space. (I really hope not the last one).

Hardware Issues Already??? Really?!?!

I have been following a lot of articles about the iphone 5 and this is the one that really caught my attention. It wasn't the specs, not the software, and not the upgrades, it was the initial problems! I read an article at GSMARENA and it was about a chipping issue with regards to the Iphone 5's aluminum shell.

Ok here's the deal i'm really not an Apple fan nor am I a hater, but hey nothing's perfect. Oh well too bad, it's another point on that "why I shouldn't buy the iphone5 list".

So apparently the black&slate models are having this popular issue right now, maybe it's because they said the white ones aren't really that popular yet. It looks like they've been so much on the hurry of releasing the iphone 5 that quality control didn't really have enough time to check the units before they entered the box. Yes my dear readers they were right out of the box, not upon usage.

I know this won't stop you from buying the phone and if you are one of those eager and die hard iphone fans who don't really care about this kinds of stuff here are some solutions you can do about this problem. 

1. Buy a casing for the phone. 

2. Buy a white unit ( at least nobody's complaining about the white units yet )

3. Have the whole phone Laminated ( just kidding but it might work. )

4. Have it replaced apple would be willing to replace the damaged unit right?

5. Black markers! use black markers! haha or maybe those scratch pens that they show on those infomercial channels!

6. Wear gloves always when holding your phone, you could never be too careful.

7. OR don't hold the phone at all!

Ok sorry bout that I got a little carried away, was just kidding with some of them. apple will always be willing to replace those right out of the box defects like this, they have warranties right? but what if you ordered it abroad? it would take a whole lot of time and patience to get your new phone. But hey! this are just minor problems right? it's the Iphone5!

Let me repeat that I am not an Apple or Iphone hater nor a fan, I would love to buy an Iphone 5 if I had the means but I don't, and I'm also a very meticulous and practical person with regards to the gadgets that I buy. So hey! as I always say! don't hate! appreciate!.

Waiting. . . . Finally!!!! OMG!!!!!!!!

So I was browsing my Facebook Account, and suddenly I saw this photo!!!!

It's like a bullet struck my head and hit me where if freakin hurts! and then wooooshhh (IDEA)! I was thinking "Oh yeah apple fans from the Philippines are gonna love this!".

Kimstore has finally done something amazing, AGAIN (ok that's besides the fact that they are the most successful and also THE BEST online shop for gadgets, cameras, gaming console, etc in the Philippines. Ok the only downside to it is that they don't have the prices yet, but I know those itching hands of yours would not care about that! (ok just trying to be funny). But don't lose hope I know they will update the public ASAP regarding the prices of the units (REALLY hoping and praying that the prices would be a little lower than on the 2 huge companies contract binding deals).

We Will Rule You!!!

It's been a week since the release of the Iphone 5. And everything is still in chaos! it was like martial law was declared again! ( ok so I was exaggerating a little bit ). It really is annoying actually that everyone is already debating on what phone is better, comparing it to the SGSIII the fact that the iphone hasn't really been released yet and I believe that nobody has used it. Funny how a lot of people tend to declare which is better based on specs that 90% of the consumers don't really understand! wew. . . digitaltrends.com made a really nice article on the Iphone5 Vs. Samsung Galaxy SIII specs showdown which is something you guys should check out!

So after days of silence Samsung threw a really large stone on apple this week by releasing a controversial print ad, that shows the comparison between the specs of the iphone 5 and the SIII, which has the tag " It doesn't take a genius ". And apparently some apple fans really got pissed off, which was in my opinion really funny and immature at some point. Check out the Ad!

Iphone5 vs. Samsung Galaxy S3 Ad

Ok so after searching the web i found lots and lots of parodies about the ad that somehow gave Samsung a taste of their own medicine. After all of this it just made me hungry and think of funny ideas regarding the ongoing debate!

THINGS I REALIZED!!!!

1. Apple fans might kill for the iphone5!
2. Samsung fans will laugh at Apple fans for the course of time that this ad will be placed publicly
3. Nokia, HTC, LG, and other mobile companies are still waiting for Apple and Samsung to destroy each other  fighting for the control over people's minds on which phone is better!
4. Whatever Samsung does they still have to pay that 1billion dollars that they owe to Apple. Hence the title We Will Rule You!!!
5. Due to that Apple is now 1billion dollars richer!
6. People will buy whatever this 2 companies make and sell. They got us hypnotized!
7. Now size doesn't only matter physically, it also matters gadgetly! (wow GADGETLY????!!!)
8. No matter what specs they place on their ads 70%-80% of people still looks at what MP is the camera of the phones and what Gb the memory of the phones are! better MP and Gb = BEST PHONE EVER!!!

Having said all that, I would like to reiterate that those are just ideas and are not pertaining to reality or are considered as opinions only.

In the end I really don't care about which Phone is better for me what's important is what phone I CAN AFFORD! you can't blame me i'm a very practical person. 

Being the best phone or gadget will still be opinionated and will always be reliant on the needs of the users, and people please wait until after the iphone5 is released and being used before the declarations of being the best. I also believe that the declarations and decisions on which phone is better is placed solely on the people who had the privilege of using both phones.

I give a thumbs up for Samsung for having the guts to make that ad, and a thumbs up to Iphone 5 just because they got Samsung to a point that they decided to make that ad!

Singapore + Note

I was so excited to go visit a special someone in Singapore. . .
Packed my bags, clothes, documents, personal stuff, underwear, and cameras.
I thought I have everything I needed, I WAS WRONG.
I had a camera, a DSLR Nikon D3100, I was so excited to take pictures. . .
But it was too late to realize that I left the batteries in the Philippines. . .
I tried to buy a new one. . . but it cost so much. . . I ain't rich so I couldn't afford a new one.

Luckily. . . I have my trusty Samsung Galaxy Note + Camera 360 app!!!!
And here's what I got.

Thanks to my smart phone. I was able to take this pictures. I know it's not as good as I'd hoped for, but I know somehow it looks nice, I'm still wishing that I didn't left that battery at home. **sigh**

Hello to the New Iphone 5! in a layman's stand point

So I stood up all night (ok well until 3am here) excitedly waiting for the release of the Iphone 5 by Apple. The tension was building up in my mind because really, with all of the fearless forecast of the people regarding the new features and the new look of the new phone who wouldn't be curious? It even came to a point that I would dream about holding it in my hands, cuddling it, tucking it in bed, and continously... Oh well that's a story that's way off topic. Anyways after the much awaited release of the Iphone 5, this is what I got.

Apple Iphone 5 Specs:

The Iphone 5 has a LONGER screen than that of it's older generations, it has a good 4 inch screen which is also containing more vivid and clearer display.

They boasted a longer battery life for the phone compared to the 4 and 4s. (yet to be tested personally).

It's lighter and thinner. 18% lighter than the 4s as they claimed. made entirely of aluminum and glass. ( ok please of course the insides and other hardware are not made of aluminum and glass!!)

They basically said that everything will be faster on the Iphone 5. an A6 chip meaning faster app loading time and gaming experience, Ultrafast LTE and Wireless connection (150mbps).

Camera still at 8mp on the back, better aperture, better speaker, better videos taken, better front face camera.

Alot of improvements due to the IOS6. SIRI just became smarter!

It comes in black and slate, and white and silver combo!

The Dock port is now smaller and they called it LIGHTNING! (iCloud, iLightning, iThunder? haha)


Well i wouldn't go too deep on the specs, I just stated everything that a layman would look for if he was reading a specs review of the gadget because seriously we only look for 3 things when checking out a phone especially here in the Philippines.

1.) HOW MANY MEGAPIXELS IS THE CAMERA?
2.) DOES IT HAVE WIFI?
3.) HOW MUCH IS IT?

Funny isn't it but that's the reality, even I'm guilty of those most of the time!

Alright then! all in all I must say after all the waiting I was a little bit disappointed with what I got. Is it just me or were my hopes really too high for the ip5? I was kinda hoping for much better specs, and even on the design, Literally I was in my seat and said "So we have a longer Iphone? what now???". I even got the same reactions from my friends when they heard the news. Although I really am applauding all the new features and functions the new iphone has for me I think it just have that wow factor that's missing, or maybe it's because of all those tease and speculations that people gave that lead me to a very high expectation.

And so for all the readers, if you live in a third world country like ours and you might want to buy an iphone 5 and you already have a 4s or you already have the SIII or Galaxy note and you are not really using your phone for anything else but playing, communications, and music please be WISE and PRACTICAL, maybe you should stick with your current phone. But if you are part of that "intsy bitsy tiny" percentage of REALLY RICH people here in our country, go ahead and buy it's not like anyone's stopping you from spending your money, (i'm silently thinking now that maybe you have already pre-ordered from apple while reading this LOL!). In my opinion I think I'd keep the iphone5 in my wants list and not really on the needs list.



For those who would want to buy, and are capable of buying. the release dates are as follows:

US, Canada, UK, Germany, Australia, France, Japan, Hongkong and Singapore - September 21, 2012.

Philippines and other 3WC - No idea yet whatsoever haha. maybe on October or the holidays season (I'll update you on that)

Prices are the same as the ones on the release of the 4S, carriers are both SMART and GLOBE. (still waiting for both carriers to announce their plans, and if LTE will be available here in the Philippines)

In case you are wondering what LTE is it stands for Long-Term Evolution simply put its the 3G's better brighter faster stronger brother!


Still in the end I think I'm sticking with my GALAXY NOTE.

Hi! This is Duct Taped Rants!

In the real world few people listen, opinions are controlled, and ideas are almost always doubted. So I thought why not write about it! and then i decided to make a blog.

Welcome to Duct Taped Rants where the ideas that I can't say out loud are pretty much expressed. I am JM Javierto, nurse by profession and a jack of all trades by heart.
